The Safety Challenge

Sensor-Based Environmental Awareness

Emergency Stop
Every WOX Relay vehicle has an emergency stop capability — the vehicle can halt immediately in response to a detected obstacle, system alert or remote operator command. The emergency stop does not require a human driver to activate. It is triggered automatically by the vehicle's safety systems when a stop is required.
Controlled Speed
WOX Relay operates at low speed appropriate for shared environments. Speed is managed by the autonomous control system — not dependent on a driver. In pedestrian areas, the vehicle operates at a speed that allows it to stop safely before reaching a detected obstacle. Speed limits can be configured for specific zones within the operating area.
Geofencing
Geofencing ensures that the vehicle operates only within approved areas. It cannot enter restricted zones, leave the operating area or navigate to unapproved locations. This is a core safety requirement for all WOX Relay deployments.
Human Oversight
Remote operations provides a safety net for situations that the vehicle cannot handle autonomously. When a vehicle stops due to an obstacle or system issue, the remote operations team receives an alert and can assess the situation. This human oversight layer ensures that edge cases are handled safely without requiring a driver in every vehicle.
